Race day is set for one of the signature events during the State Employees' Community Campaign (SECC). The 20th Annual State Employees' Paddle Battle competition takes place on Friday, September 11 on White River Canal.

Friday Sept. 11 at 11:30 a.m. teams from 27 state agencies are set to compete and again we're doing it for charity. All procees will be donated to the winning team’s 501 (c) (3) charity of choice for SECC.

The defending champions from the Indiana Office of Technology will return to defend possession of the coveted Paddle Battle Oar! Teams are assigned into nine heats with a random draw. The winners of the nine heats qualify for the semi-finals, and the three winners of the semi-finals will race in the championship race. Teams and heat assignments will be announced prior to the event. 

Spectators are welcome and encouraged! Be sure to come to the canal and cheer on your agency and take part in the fun!

• Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the teams, splash and spray the competition, and have some fun!
• Please be safe and respect the competitors and the canal.
• No water balloons allowed.
• No debris/trash can be left in the water or on the canal bank.
• No dumping of water off the West Street bridge.
