Smokey Bear is celebrating at Brown County State Park! Join us throughout the day for a variety of Smokey and Wildfire themed activities. Smokey's celebration is free with park admission. Please join Brown County State Park in celebrating his 80th birthday! Smokey himself will make appearances throughout the day.

10am to 1pm: Smokey the Bear Coloring Contest: Pick up materials to take, or use ours at the Nature Center, and submit your creation to be elligible for a prize! Four categories are available. 7 years and under, 8 to 12 years, and 13 to 17 years, and 18 year and older.

11am to 12pm: Smokey the Bear Bingo. Join us in the Friends' Shelter near the Nature Center for games of Bingo! Smokey the Bear prizes will be given out to winners.

12pm to 1pm: Come to the Friends' Shelter near the Brown County State Park Nature Center to meet Dixie the Praying Dog! Dixie is a bluetick coonhound from Camby, Indiana. She is a therapy dog, actress and model, and a trained deer tracking dog. Dixie specializes in therapy dog work for veterans and children with disabilities. She visits hospitals, memorial services, retirement homes, parades, and all sorts of events. Dixie is also known for the Amazon Prime TV series "The Pack," as well as "Road Dogs" on DogTV, and the "Mayberry Man" movie. You can follow her on social media!

1:30pm: Meet near the Campground Gatehouse for a parade around Buffalo Ridge! Smokey the Bear and an Indiana DNR wildland firetruck will lead a short parade around the Buffalo Ridge campground loop.

2pm to 3pm: Touch the Firetruck and Meet a Wildland Firefighter! Come to the Brown County State Park Nature Center from 2pm to 3pm to learn about how the Indiana DNR fights wildfires. Ask questions and see the truck and equipment!

3pm to 3:45pm: Celebrate Smokey's Birthday: Come to the Friends' Shelter outside of the Nature Center to meet Smokey and eat birthday cake (while supply lasts). Smokey will be available for photos during this hour. The coloring contest winners will be announced here.

4pm to 4:30pm: Smokey at the Fire Tower. Visit the Fire Tower near the Park Office for a photo with Smokey, while learning from a park naturalist about the history of fire towers in Indiana.
