G.W. is a deaf person who was placed in a state hospital on an emergency basis. The trial court later held a virtual hearing and concluded G.W. was gravely disabled. As a result, the court ordered him to remain at a state hospital for at least ninety days. On appeal, G.W. claims: (1) the trial court erred in requiring him to choose between a virtual hearing or a continuance and change of venue for an in-person hearing; and (2) his placement at the hospital was inappropriate.
