About this Event
Indiana National Guard's annual recognition of SAAPM wraps up on 30 April with a day of advocacy, supporting victims and survivors- signified by wearing denim and teal. Denim Day is a worldwide campaign to prevent sexual violence through education and awareness.
The custom began in the 1990s with "Peace Over Violence," an Italian protest over victim blaming of a rape survivor because she had been wearing "tight jeans" when she was attacked. We can help promote a culture of consent, respect and support by confronting victim blaming and other attitudes that excuse sexual violence and prevent survivors from reporting and getting the help the need.
On Denim Day, INNG personnel, including AGR and Dual Status Technicians, are encouraged to wear the color teal and denim jeans as a united stand against sexual violence. Your participation will show your support of sexual assault victims and help affirm the Indiana National Guard’s emphasis on zero tolerance for sexual offenses. All other provisions of the organization’s dress code apply. This event is for all Indiana National Guard locations.
STEP FORWARD. Prevent. Report. Advocate.
