Join a park naturalist for a guided night hike on the Salt Creek Trail! The Full Moon is the brightest night of the month, leading to interesting views along the creek. Learn about September's full moon this year, the Harvest Moon. The Salt Creek Trail is rated very easy, but should be considered moderate in the dark. The trail has some minor slopes, a short stretch of lawn, and possible wet or icy spots depending on weather. Our route is  about 2 miles total and will take about an hour to complete. Please do not bring pets on night hikes. Red flashlights are preferred for night vision and can be loaned to hikers on request.

Hike cancellation policy:

Hikes will be cancelled if there is lightning, temperatures below 0 degrees Farenheit, temperature indexes above 105 degrees Farenheit, or a wind advisory. If a hike is cancelled, gatehouses will be informed. The phone number for the North Gatehouse is 812-988-5230.
