Explore the quieter side of Monroe Lake during these guided paddling trips that journey through backwaters, wetlands, bays, and/or slow-moving streams. Trips highlight beautiful views, hidden wildlife, aquatic plants, and unique land features. Find your new favorite place to kayak! 2.5 hours
BACKUP DATE is Friday, October 9 (same time). Please hold the backup date in your calendar, in case the trip must be rescheduled due to weather or instructor illness. Refunds will be offered only if the original AND backup dates are both cancelled.
This EXTENDED-LENGTH trip (about 5 hours, expected return around 5:30 p.m.) will head up the Middlefork of Salt Creek to the Elkinsville area. This is a particularly scenic portion of the Salt Creek Valley with a high likelihood of encountering bald eagles, beavers, and other wildlife. Due to the high-water levels experienced by the reservoir this summer, we may also encounter new logjams in the narrower sections of the creek – this trip is for those with an adventurous spirit!
REFUND/TRANSFER/CANCELLATION POLICY
- Registrations are considered final and no refunds or date transfers are available, with limited exceptions.
- You may transfer a registration(s) to another person(s) by contacting Jill Vance at [email protected] from the same email used in your original registration. - In the event that the trip is cancelled by the instructor for weather, low registration, or instructor illness, registered participants may opt to transfer their registration to another Explore Monroe trip on a different date or receive a full refund.
-
Weather Cancellation Policy: If only light rain is anticipated, the trip will likely proceed as scheduled. However, if there is a strong possibility (as determined by the instructor) of moderate to heavy rain, high winds, or thunder/lightning, the workshop will be cancelled for safety reasons. Any decision to cancel due to anticipated weather will be made at least 2 hours prior to the trip start time. In the event of a cancellation, an email notice will be sent to all registrants.
-
Low Registration Policy: The trip may be cancelled, at the discretion of the instructor, if there are fewer than 3 people signed up by the registration deadline. If the trip is cancelled due to low registration, all participants will be notified within 24 hours of the close of registration.
