Family Heritage Scrapbooking Workshop at 9:00 a.m.
This 3-hour workshop will cover best practices for preserving and sharing photos and family heirlooms and other historical documentation. Our hands on session will include: basic tips on scrapbook page making, archival considerations, original v. copy of photos, layout and page design, color choices, cropping techniques, choosing adhesives, and other considerations. We will also discuss digital scrapbook options. Participants will have the opportunity to create and complete at least two memory pages. The workshop will be presented by Susan Snider Salmon, an experienced genealogist and a genealogy instructor for the Ivy Tech Center for Lifelong Learning.
Workshop fee includes the following archival quality and acid-free materials:
Participants should bring with them:
-Paper-cutting tools (Optional: When registering, you may select the $15 “add-on” ticket to instead purchase a small, table-top paper cutter suitable for scrapbooking.)
-Original family history photos/documents OR good quality digital prints that have been copied from the originals. We suggest a selection of 10-12 related images. (Note: If you are bringing newspaper articles, you must use digital copies reprinted onto archival paper.)
-Notes about dates, names, relationships, history, events, memories, or other stories conveyed by the images you have selected to bring.
