Geminids Meteor Shower & Telescope Viewing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Fairfax SRA, Swimming Beach

Drop by to watch the night sky with us! The highlight (hopefully!) will be the Geminid Meteor Shower, which peaks just after midnight and is typically the best meteor shower of the year, producing up to 120 meteors per hour. In between watching for “shooting stars,” you can also look through our telescope for views of Jupiter and the waning crescent Moon. We’ll also have hot cocoa to help keep you warm!

Before you come… CHECK THE EVENT PAGE at tinyurl.com/fairfaxgeminids2025 for weather notices. If it doesn’t look like the skies will be clear enough for viewing, we’ll have to cancel.

What to bring… folding chairs or a blanket (we recommend a blanket, because you can get the best view of the sky by lying down), a travel mug for cocoa (to help reduce waste from paper cups), and plenty of warm layers (maybe an extra blanket to help you stay warm!).
