Join the Indiana DNR Nature Preserves and Jennings County Community Foundation for a guided hike at Calli Nature Preserve in Jennings County.

This tract contains high-quality limestone cliffs, waterfalls, mesic and dry-mesic upland forests, the latter containing a large eastern hemlock stand. Red-shouldered Hawks and Hooded Warblers both nest in the preserve. This hike provides an opportunity to see rare plants.

Parking and trail: From North Vernon, take US 50 east for just under 1.0 mile to the bridge over the Vernon Fork of the Muscatatuck River. Just after crossing the bridge there is a gravel road on the right. Turn onto the gravel road and follow it to the parking lot, which will be on the left.

The event is free, but registration is required and limited to 20 individuals. When registering a group, select number of individuals and enter names. Email address can be the same.

Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Rubber boots are not necessary but may help you explore without getting your feet wet. Bring binoculars and a hand lens, if you have them. No restroom facilities.
