Join Indiana DNR ecologist, Nate Simons, on a guided hike at Loon Lake Nature Preserve on Nov. 21 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. ET. This 1-mile hike will take participants through an oak woodland with occasional glimpses of Loon Lake. The trail leads to the edge of a lakeside sedge meadow where participants will be able to enjoy the golden fall color of tamarack trees up close and personal. Participants will stop along the way to experience a very large open-grown white oak – a relic of a much more open landscape.

Participants should meet in the parking lot at 3300 W Loon Lake Road, Angola, IN. Parking is unpaved and limited to about 5 vehicles. This hike is moderately difficult and terrain includes mowed trail, a short boardwalk, and a squishy sedge meadow. Wet boots are recommended but water (if any) should be less than ankle deep. No restrooms are available.

Please register to attend this free event.

DNR values access for all participants and will provide reasonable accommodation for this event. Please contact Nate Simons at [email protected] or 260-316-2498 to request an accommodation or discuss any questions and concerns. Requests must be submitted at least one week before the event.
