10:30 to 12:00 p.m. - PUMPKIN DECORATING Bring the kids and meet at the Peppermint Hill Shelter for some pumpkin craft fun. You can carve, paint or drill into your pumpkins to decorate them. Make sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. $3 pumpkins will be available while supplies last. This program supports our Friends of Potato Creek.
1:00 to 2:00 p.m. COSTUME CONTEST Dress up your kids and/or pets and meet at the Peppermint Hill Shelter to show off your costumes in this fun event! Judges will determine the most creative, scariest, funniest, best homemade, best group, most original and best pet awards. Small token prizes will be given to all participants thanks to the support of our Friends of Potato Creek.
4:00 to 6:00 p.m. - TRICK-OR-TREATING This annual tradition takes place this afternoon! Bring your ghouls and goblins for some trick-or-treating fun in the park’s campgrounds. Please Park at the Beach Parking Lot and walk the trail into our Family Campground. (Cars will be prohibited to enter the campgrounds from 3:45-6:15 p.m.)
Sunday, October 26th
2:00 p.m. - CORNHUSK DOLLS Join the Naturalist at the Nature Center for a chance to create this fun ol’ toy craft created from weaving husks. This craft originated with the Native Americans and was later adopted by early settlers to Potato Creek for children’s enjoyment. Supplies are limited and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Our interpretive programs are designed to entertain and enrich folks of all ages. Children under 12 must have an adult with them at programs.
Registration is not required for this program.
All our programs are free (unless otherwise noted). They are open to the public after paying the park entrance fee. ($7 in-state & $9 out-of-state)

The Nature Center's Hours during October: Open Thursday-Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET. Closed Monday-Wednesday.
*Note that during peak visitation times, entry into our park might be delayed. Parking lots around the Nature Center can fill quickly. The Nature Center is located approximately 10 minutes from our park’s main entrance gate. Please plan accordingly.*
