Historic Homesite Volunteer Workday at 1:00 p.m.

Sign up by December 1 at tinyurl.com/historic-work-dec2025. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Location: Fairfax State Recreation Area (meet at Hunter Check Station parking lot)

For the past year, we have been uncovering the remnants of a late 1800s / early 1900s home and farm. This is an extensive site that includes a house, well/cistern, root cellar, barn, garage, outbuildings, and dump sites. Our focus for this workday is unearthing a recently discovered limestone walkway that connects the house to several outbuildings, as well as continuing to clear vegetation and search for additional features.

Volunteers should dress for the weather and bring work gloves, water bottle, and – if you have them - loppers or other tools suitable for cutting stems up to 1” diameter. 2.5 hours

In the event of inclement weather, this workday will be rescheduled to Friday, December 5.
