Huntington, IN (June 11, 2025) – Huntington will soon have a new skatepark if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by August 10, 2025. If successful, the project led by the City of Huntington  will receive a matching grant as part of IHCDA’s  CreatINg Places program.

“Huntington has worked for years to bring a safe, modern skatepark to life.” said Matt Rayburn, Chief Real Estate Development Officer at IHCDA. “At IHCDA, we’re proud to help make that vision a reality and give Huntington the same opportunities as other communities.”

Funds from this campaign will be used to create a new skatepark in Yeoman Park.

“Skateparks are more than just places to skate. They are inclusive, multi-generational gathering spaces that encourage physical activity, build positive peer relationships, and provide youth with a constructive outlet to learn resiliency, “ said Richard Strick, Mayor of Huntington. “ Huntington is home to a passionate and growing community of skaters who have lacked a modern facility that meets their needs”.

“Renovating the Huntington skatepark is a chance to create something special for the community—a space to stay active, build skills, and connect with others,” said Erik Long, Program Director for Elevate Huntington. “With a little help, we can make something with a lasting impact for young skaters in the Huntington area”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $13.3 million in crowdgranting funds and an additional $11.3 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
