$50,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA’s CreatINg Places initiative

Indianapolis (May 31, 2025) – Marion County residents will soon have an improved pedestrian-friendly trail connecting Broad Ripple if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by July 29, 2025. If successful, the project led by Broad Ripple Village Association will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.

“The RiverWalk is an outstanding example how a local vision and community support can come together to create a lasting impact, " said Matt Rayburn, Chief Real Estate Development Officer at IHCDA “This trail will not only improve connectivity throughout Broad Ripple, but also offer a safer, more welcoming space for residents to gather, exercise, and enjoy the natural beauty of their neighborhood.”

Funds from this campaign will be used to activate a trail between the Monon Trail, Broad Ripple Park, and Broad Ripple Village. This campaign will make it possible to add amenities such as lighting, benches, and ensure proper maintenance along the trail.

“The Broad Ripple Riverwalk has already transformed how we connect with the river—and each other,” said Jordan Dillon, Executive Director of the Broad Ripple Village Association. “As we kick off this final fundraising effort, we’re inviting the community to help us complete the vision by adding lighting along the pathway. This final piece will ensure the Riverwalk remains a vibrant, safe, and welcoming space for everyone, from early-morning joggers to evening strollers. With your support, we can light the way forward.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $13.2 million in crowdgranting funds and an additional $11.3 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project
