This year is the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 race, which is known as the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” In recognition of Memorial Day weekend, military personnel are honored during pre-race ceremonies. In support of this dedication, the Indiana National Guard provides a joint service color guard, a firing party, bugler and four-star general as the keynote speaker. Additionally, all branches of service partake in a parade lap and march during opening ceremonies. Additionally, a military flyover during the national anthem will be the finale to the pre-race ceremonies.
