DESCRIPTION:A nine-member task force is working to provide landlords and te
nants a fair chance to resolve their disputes and access federal rental as
sistance resources. The Indiana Supreme Court established the Indiana Evic
tion Task Force to gather input from stakeholders and provide the Court wi
th recommendations to help distribute the available federal money more qui
ckly. \n\nIn partnership with the Office of the Governor and the Indiana B
ar Foundation\, the Court already launched Fast-Track Facilitation through
the Landlord and Tenant Settlement Conference Program to resolve eviction
cases in a mutually beneficial manner. The Court is also contacting all p
arties in eviction cases to alert them to resources\, including possible f
unding. \n\nA potential housing crisis driven by evictions would likely sp
ill over into other societal problems such as homelessness\, criminal just
ice issues\, and child welfare matters. Local eviction diversion programs
are a necessary step to prevent this. Such programs can draw on local and
state resources\, partner with area stakeholders\, and quickly connect bot
h landlords and tenants with assistance. Through the newly created task fo
rce\, the Supreme Court is working to foster economic and housing stabilit
y for both tenants and landlords and create a better outcome for all\, inc
luding local communities. For more information\, visit courts.in.gov/housi
