Join Indiana DNR on Saturday, May 30 for this beginner deer hunting workshop from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. ET at Atterbury Fish & Wildlife Area. Deer hunting is great way to put wild game on your table and practice your skills in the woods this fall. Whether you're new to hunting or just geared up to try something different this season, we look forward to seeing you!

This adults-oriented (16+) workshop will cover basic deer biology, how to scout for deer in the summer, how to hunt deer with a rifle from a ground blind, gear selection, safety, regulations, and ways to take your harvest from field to fork. While hunter education is not required for this workshop, the content will build upon basic principles of hunter education. Prior certification in hunter education, either in person or online is recommended. Find more information on online hunter education here.

The class will consist of a 30 – 45-minute lecture followed by hands-on activities to help solidify your deer hunting knowledge and practice skills you may use in the field both before and during season. Participants can expect a small amount of walking (up to one mile). Pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Please register to attend this free workshop. See you there!

DNR values access for all participants and will provide reasonable accommodation for this event. Please contact Branndon Castellano at [email protected] or 317-519-0728 to request an accommodation or discuss any questions and concerns. Requests must be submitted at least one week before the event.
