Untitled Document NOTE: This workshop is in Central Time. This two-day workshop is designed to teach participants the basics of trapping and is tailored to those new to trapping. The workshop provides a mix of class and field learning experiences. Participants will get hands-on training from instructors. Participants will be given a test for trapper certification on the second day.
Day 1 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), participants will become familiar with:
Furbearer biology Trapping laws Trap types and their use Trap placement Day 2 (8 a.m. to noon), participants will become familiar with:
Checking traps Basics of skinning and hide preparation All equipment will be provided. Portions of this workshop will be outside in wet or muddy areas. Please dress accordingly, long pants and waterproof boots are recommended.
There is no cost associated in attending this workshop. You are not required to have a hunting or trapping license to participate. Participants must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend.
