$50,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA's CreatINg Places initiative
DUBLIN, Ind. (March 26, 2024) – Wayne County residents will soon have a safe and accessible playground if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by May 25, 2024. If successful, the project led by the Town of Dublin will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.
"It is vitally important that children of all abilities have the opportunity to engage in play with their peers," said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "The campaign for an inclusive playground in Wilson Park directly addresses that need. I'm thrilled to watch this project unfold, and I am confident it will enhance the community for years to come."
Funds from this campaign will be used to improve the accessibility of Wilson Park with ADA-compliant poured-in-place surfacing and play equipment.
"The Dublin Town Council is working with Wayne County and IHCDA to create a safe area of play," said Dublin Clerk-Treasurer Julia McCarty. "We are continuing to build a safe environment for our children where they can learn the social, creative and coordination skills that make strong, healthy future leaders of our community."
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $10.3 million in public funds and an additional $8.7 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
