$10,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA's CreatINg Places program
METAMORA, Ind. (April 8, 2024) – Metamora residents will create an annual community celebration if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $10,000 by May 23, 2024. If successful, the project led by the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.
"This proposed celebration will shine a spotlight on all the delightful shops, trails and events Metamora has to offer," said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "This is an excellent example of how the CreatINg Places program can galvanize unique placemaking projects and I am thrilled to see this project come together through the collective work of the community."
Funds from this campaign will be used to pay for fireworks for the first two years of an annual show at Metamora's Gateway Park.
"The Metamora Volunteer Fire Department is proud to support Metamora Community Fireworks at the Gateway Park in Metamora," said organizer David Bowser of the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department. "This family-oriented celebration is our way of building a stronger community. We are thankful for the support from IHCDA and our community."
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $10.3 million in public funds and an additional $8.5 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
