$50,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA's CreatINg Places initiative

PENNVILLE, Ind. (April 1, 2024) – The Town of Pennville will soon revitalize a local park if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by May 31, 2024. If successful, the project led by the Town of Pennville’s Park Board will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.

"Maintaining viable recreation opportunities is important to the health of Indiana, and we need citizens engaged in developing these visions for their cities and towns," said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "This project for revitalization is a wonderful example of how the CreatINg Places program can be leveraged on behalf of an entire community."

Funds from this campaign will be used to transform the Pennville Community Park by making improvements to the soccer fields, repairing basketball courts, enhancing the skatepark and cleaning up the landscaping.

"Our park has been used for many activities by generations of families in and around Pennville, from playing soccer to weighing-in for the Pennville Fall Festival’s giant pumpkin contest," said Tanner McClain of the Pennville Park Board. "We need the community's help to ensure the park is ready for many more generations of use.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $10 million in public funds and an additional $8.2 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
