$50,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA’s CreatINg Places initiative
SHOALS, IN (Dec. 17, 2024) – Shoals residents will soon have more equitable access to their local library if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by Feb. 14, 2025. If successful, the project led by the Shoals Public Library will receive a matching grant as part of IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.
"We're thrilled to see this vision for the Shoals Public Library coming to life," said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "CreatINg Places is a dynamic program that has benefited communities across the state. Broadening accessibility will open the library's resources to residents of all ages and abilities."
Funds from this campaign will be used to install an elevator and update the restrooms to make the library accessible to everyone.
"The Shoals Public Library is a great local asset and we’re excited to expand the space to increase our services to our community,” said Sylvia Albaugh, Library Director. "We appreciate IHCDA’s matching opportunity and ask for your support in making this project possible."
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $11.4 million in public funds and an additional $9.8 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
