$50,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA's CreatINg Places initiative

LIBERTY, Ind. (Aug. 30, 2023) – Union County will soon have a space for music and events if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by October 29, 2023. If successful, the project led by Union County Parks and Recreation will receive a matching grant as part of IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

"We are excited at the prospect of broadening Union County's cultural legacy through the enhancement of the UC Nature Park through a new amphitheater," said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "This tremendous campaign is yet another example of Hoosiers coming together to uplift their community and create a lasting impact."

Funds from this campaign will be used to develop the Union County Nature Park with the addition of a new amphitheater as a gathering place for festivals, music and events for the community.

"The Union County Parks and Recreation Board is so excited to add this amphitheater to UC Nature Park," said Dana Risch, Union County Parks and Recreation Board President. "We know it will enhance our ability to meet community needs and we look forward to having such a wonderful space to utilize."

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $9.1 million in public funds and an additional $7.4 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
