Throughout its history, the Marine Corps has played an instrumental role in numerous American conflicts and operations, including the American Revolution, the Mexican-American War, World Wars I and II, and over 300 landings on foreign shores. Marines have been crucial participants in every war the United States has fought, often being the first to engage in combat. Their unmatched bravery and strength have earned them the nickname "Devil Dogs" and have cemented their legacy through iconic moments like the raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima — an enduring symbol of their courage, valor, and determination.
Each year on November 10, Marines around the world celebrate the Marine Corps birthday, an event rich with tradition and reflection. This celebration honors the sacrifices and achievements of Marines, as well as the core values they uphold: Honor, Courage, and Commitment. These values have been the cornerstone of the Marine Corps for the past 249 years. As we approach the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, these values continue to serve as a powerful reminder of the Corps' legacy and its significant role in American history.
