Want to contribute to monarch conservation in Indiana? Join Division of Fish & Wildlife staff and the Monarch Joint Venture Sat. Sept. 21 from 1 – 4 p.m. ET at Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA) Volunteers will assist staff with collecting, tagging, and recording data on monarch butterflies.

Monarch Butterflies spend all spring and summer migrating north from Mexico to Canada, in the fall they begin the long journey back south. Tagging these butterflies with a small sticker on their hindwing, we can determine how far individual butterflies go on their migration, the paths they take, the influence of weather on migration, and how many of them survive.

All ages are welcome, and all minors are to be accompanied by an adult. All training and materials will be provided by staff. No prior experience is necessary. This event will be outside for the duration, so dress accordingly! Please bring close-toed shoes, water, and anything else you might need to feel comfortable in the field!
