Moon Watch from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Fairfax SRA: Swimming Beach

DROP BY and join us for a moon watch! We’ll enjoy views of an especially large full moon, called a “supermoon,” which occurs when the moon is extra-close to the Earth. Our telescope will be set up, so that you can get a closer look at features on the moon’s surface. Beginning at 10:12 p.m., we’ll watch the progress of a partial lunar eclipse, where the Earth’s shadow will fall across the moon (peaking at 10:44 p.m.). As a bonus treat, we’ll also have some MoonPies and “moon cookies” available for you to snack on. Bring your blankets and chairs, so you can relax on the beach sand and enjoy the lunar show! Please note: This program will be cancelled in the event of bad weather or very cloudy skies!
