FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 16, 2023

The Personal Property Online Portal for Indiana (“PPOP-IN”) provides options for taxpayers and individuals filing on behalf of taxpayers. Many individuals have reached out regarding how to set up their accounts. Questions regarding account creation can be directed to your township or county assessor’s office or by contacting the Department’s support email at [email protected].

What is the best account set-up for you and your business?

  • Taxpayer Accounts

A taxpayer account should be set up under a business name in PPOP-IN. When setting up the account in PPOP-IN, the first name field should be used for the name of the business and the last name field should be used to enter the entity type for the business.

Example: First Name: Smith’s Auto Repair Last Name: LLC

Should you set up your account under your name, you can make this change under your profile upon logging into PPOP-IN. The profile icon can be found in the upper right-hand corner of the PPOP-IN system.

  • Authorized Agent Accounts

Any individual submitting a filing on behalf of a business (taxpayer), should create an authorized agent account. Individuals should register under their personal name and email address in PPOP-IN. Authorized Agents can be a business employee, an accountant, tax preparer, etc. Agents will supply the taxpayers with their agent code which will allow the accounts to be linked and the agents to be able to file on behalf of the business.

What is PPOP-IN?

Taxpayers have until May 15, 2023, to file their business personal property filings either online at https://ppopin.in.gov or by the traditional paper forms.

I need help. Who can I call?

Taxpayers may hire a tax professional such as a CPA to assist them with their filing. You may also contact your township or county assessor with questions. Their contact information can be found here.

PPOP-IN Status Updates

The Department will be sending out regular communications to various stakeholders over the next several months. We want you to stay informed of all the changes. If you received this email, you are all set. If you received this message from another individual, please register your email address.
