The Indiana Department of Natural Resources proposes the use of federal and state funds to renovate J.C. Murphey Lake at Willow Slough Fish & Wildlife Area in Newton County. After the lake is drained, staff will dip existing ditches, move existing spoil piles, and create islands and underwater humps for fish and wildlife. Piers, docks, and aeration systems will also be replaced. This project will enhance the lake and marsh habitat and the lake will be refilled with water once work is complete.
The Division of Fish & Wildlife wishes to solicit comments about any potential impacts to environmental, cultural, and historical resources.
