About this Event
INDIANAPOLIS - (October 9, 2024) – Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales hosted a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration event at the Indiana Statehouse. This event honored and celebrated the rich contributions and achievements of the Hispanic and Latino communities in Indiana.
This event holds historic importance as this is the first time a Latino statewide elected official in Indiana has held a Hispanic Heritage Month Reception at the Indiana Statehouse.
In attendance were community leaders, business owners, educators, state officials, and families from across Indiana, all gathered to honor the contributions of Hispanic Hoosiers. This event featured inspiring speeches, award presentations, and traditional performances that showcased the vibrant heritage of Hispanic culture.
During the reception, Secretary Morales expressed gratitude to the Hispanic community for its continuous impact on the state’s economy, culture, and spirit. Several Hispanic community leaders took the stage to share their stories of success, resilience, and hope, offering a powerful testament to the future of Hispanic leadership in the state.
As a proud Hispanic himself, who legally immigrated to America, Secretary Morales shared his story and spoke about the values of hard work, service, and achieving the American Dream.
“It is a true honor to recognize all the individuals who, through their efforts, remind us of the values that make Indiana strong. Hispanic Hoosiers are the driving force of many industries, innovators in business and the arts, and champions of family values. We are enriched by our heritage, and it is my privilege to host this historic event as a reflection of our history and vision for the future throughout our Hoosier Hispanic communities,” said Diego Morales Indiana Secretary of State.
This event was a part of the ongoing celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which concludes on October 15th. Pictures are attached and available for use.
