Secretary of State Diego Morales Places Friendly Wager with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose Ahead of Big Ten Championship

Yet again, Secretary Morales carries on tradition of making another friendly wager

INDIANAPOLIS (December 5, 2025) – Two talented teams are taking the field tomorrow, and Secretary of State Diego Morales is confident Indiana University is bringing home the Big Ten Championship.

With Indianapolis proudly hosting the Big Ten Championship once again, Secretary Morales reached out to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose to see if he was up for a friendly wager as Indiana prepares to take on Ohio State. Secretary LaRose accepted the challenge, and the stakes were set.

If Indiana wins: Secretary LaRose will send some of Marsha’s Homemade Buckeyes.

If Ohio State wins: Secretary Morales will send some of Indiana’s iconic, locally grown popcorn – Indiana’s official state snack.

“As a proud IU alum, I’m so excited and proud to cheer on IU as they compete for the Big Ten title right here in our capital city. Hoosiers know how to win – whether it’s academics, innovation, or athletics. This championship in Indianapolis will be no exception. Hoo Hoo Hoo HOOSIERS!” said Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales. 

“As a proud graduate of THE Ohio State University, I look forward to the Buckeyes beginning their postseason run by reclaiming the Big Ten Championship. We'll be enjoying that Indiana popcorn as we watch Ohio State win a second consecutive National Championship!”

Since taking office, Secretary Morales has made SEVERAL similar wagers with other colleagues from various states during major athletic matchups, continuing a tradition of sportsmanship, state pride, and spirited competition.
