Secretary of State Diego Morales Promotes Indiana at

Major India Tech Industry Conferences

NEW DELHI & HYDERABAD, INDIA-  (March 27, 2025) - Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales recently concluded an impactful visit to India, where he was invited to speak on the topic of forging international alliances for tech leadership at the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) Global Confluence meeting in New Delhi. NASSCOM’s 3,000 member companies represent India’s $245 billion international technology industry.

Secretary Morales promoted Indiana as an ideal base for North American industry and served as the keynote speaker at the giant India Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) INDIASOFT 2025 conference.  This marked the 25th year for the INDIASOFT conference, an international networking event with over 1,500 exhibitors and 400 delegates from 70 countries.

Secretary Morales’ tour also included meetings with top government officials, dignitaries and business leaders. During the visit, Secretary Morales emphasized the importance of promoting Indiana as a destination for business investment, innovation, and growth. At several business forums, Secretary Morales highlighted Indiana’s thriving industries- including advanced manufacturing, technology, agriculture, life sciences, as well as logistics and infrastructure advantages- which underscore the state’s strong economic foundation and commitment to international partnerships.

Secretary Morales discussed opportunities for investment and trade with the Governor of Telangana, Members of Parliament, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, the state Minister of Information Technology and the Mayor of Hyderabad.  Secretary Morales strengthened ties with the Mayor of Hyderabad, which is an Indianapolis sister city.

Secretary Morales thanked American officials at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, and at the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad. He also spoke to the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC).

“Visiting India is an invaluable opportunity to strengthen Indiana’s economic ties with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. By fostering deeper partnerships, we can unlock new avenues for trade, innovation, and collaborations, ensuring that both Indiana and India continue to thrive on the international stage. I look forward to seeing the long-term impact of our discussions on Indiana’s economic growth and international influence,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.

The visit to India represents a critical opportunity to deepen Indiana’s economic and diplomatic reach and share our state’s story with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. Secretary Morales also extended an invitation to several dignitaries and tech industry leaders to visit Indiana, further enhancing business, trade, and cultural relations.

Foreign businesses located in Indiana must register with and obtain certificates of authority to conduct business in the state from the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State’s office is typically among the first contacts international businesses make in the state. According to Forbes, Indiana is ranked as one of the best states to start a business. Recent legislative initiatives aimed at tracking foreign ownership of businesses and agricultural assets call upon the Secretary of State to collect and report on foreign investments. The Secretary of State is known as the state’s chief protocol officer.

The 10-day trip was privately funded.  Travel dates were determined by pre-scheduled conferences and speaking invitations.  No agency or taxpayer funds were used.   Pictures are attached and available for use.
