On the afternoon of April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse – the first since the Great American Eclipse in 2017 and the last until August 2044 – will arc across the southern half of Indiana from southwest to northeast.

We recommend making reservations to camp in the park for this event!  Stay through Tuesday to avoid traffic concerns on Monday.  We will offer eclipse programming and activities on April 6th and 7th.  Check out our event calendar for more details on those activities leading up the the eclipse.

At Spring Mill, the eclipse of the sun will start around 1:50pm with 100% totality between 3:05-3:08pm and then the moon slowly moving away from the sun until 4pm.

Thanks to Doug Poad for the great photo!

For more about the science of the eclipse, visit the American Astronomical Society's 2024 Eclipse website.
