DESCRIPTION:The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission has selected Judge L
 akshmi Reddy\, Ms. Lisa Reger\, and Ms. Leanna K. Weissmann as the three n
 ominees for the upcoming vacancy on the Court of Appeals of Indiana Distri
 ct One. The Commission will submit a report to Governor Eric Holcomb in th
 e upcoming days. After officially receiving the list of nominees\, the Gov
 ernor has 60 days to make his selection.\n\nOn June 10\, the Commission co
 nducted live webcast remote interviews of thirteen applicants and named se
 ven as finalists. The finalists were interviewed in person\, also webcast 
 live\, for a second time on July 1. After deliberating in an executive ses
 sion\, the Commission publicly voted to send the three nominees to the Gov
 ernor. The Commission considered applicants' legal education\, writings\, 
 reputation in the practice of law\, and other pertinent information. Appli
 cations and information about the vacancy can be found online.\n\nAccordin
 g to the Indiana Constitution and state statute\, the seven-member Judicia
 l Nominating Commission must recruit and select candidates to fill vacanci
 es on Indiana appellate courts. The position on the Court of Appeals comes
  with the summer retirement of Judge John G. Baker.
