About this Event
The State charged Bradley with certain crimes, and he moved for a speedy trial. A court-ordered competency evaluation delayed the trial date. The St. Joseph Superior Court denied Bradley’s multiple motions to discharge based on Indiana Criminal Rule 4, and a jury convicted him. The Court of Appeals vacated Bradley’s convictions, finding the competency evaluation tolled—and did not reset—his speedy trial request. Bradley v. State, 223 N.E.3d 701 (Ind. Ct. App. 2023), vacated. The Indiana Supreme Court has granted the State’s petition to transfer and assumed jurisdiction over this case.
