A jury found Ramirez guilty of murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, and it recommended life in prison without parole (“LWOP”). The Madison Circuit Court No. 4 sentenced Ramirez to LWOP for the murder conviction and 14 years for the neglect conviction. In this direct appeal, Ramirez challenges the admission of some evidence, the exclusion of other evidence, a supplemental jury instruction concerning murder, and the LWOP sentence.
