About this Event
Richard Allen is charged with two counts of murder. After the special judge of the Carroll Circuit Court disqualified Allen’s attorneys and appointed new attorneys, Allen filed an original action petition with the Indiana Supreme Court. Allen alleges the trial court exceeded its jurisdiction by disqualifying his attorneys over his objection. Allen has asked the Indiana Supreme Court to issue a writ reinstating his previous attorneys, setting trial within seventy days, and appointing a new special judge to hear the case. The respondent court and the Attorney General have filed responses opposing the request for writ, and the Supreme Court is hearing oral argument on the petition.

Public seating for this argument is extremely limited. If you are interested in sitting in the Courtroom to listen to the argument, you must request a ticket. Tickets will be available in person on the third floor of the north end of the State House beginning at 7:45 a.m. (Eastern) on January 18, 2024. Having a ticket DOES NOT GUARANTEE you a seat in the Courtroom. Seating for the public will begin at about 10:50 a.m.
Clothing, signs, buttons, or other objects designed to convey support for either side of the argument are prohibited. Only the attorneys arguing the case are allowed to speak in court. Thank you for understanding.
