The Tier III training program is a four-week course taught only one time a year. The Tier III training program is considered an excellent program for those investigators whose full-time responsibility is investigating non-traditional criminal offenses. It is an experience that should prove to enhance the individual investigator, as well as the agency that he/she represents. The agencies represented in the Tier III training program include the Indiana Secretary of State’s office, the office of the Indiana Attorney General, the Indiana Fire Marshal’s office, and the investigators for the individual Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys.
The course is designed to build the basic skills required to investigate non-traditional crimes such as fraud, money laundering, etc. A heavy emphasis of this training will focus on crime scene management, evidence protection and preservation, statement analysis, forensic accounting, and writing investigative reports. Instruction will also be provided in order to improve the investigator’s skills in communication, with classes in interpersonal communications, interviewing and interrogation, and report writing.
Prior to several days of practical exercises, aspects of criminal law will be thoroughly covered. These topics include crimes against property and crimes against people, the use of force, arrest procedures, juvenile law and procedures, and obtaining arrest/search warrants.
Course date are April 12, 2021-May 7, 2021.
This course is for commuters only.
