For as long as the emergency management software WebEOC has been available in Indiana, it has been used while sitting at a desk or within an emergency operations center. To use it out “in the field,” an emergency manager would have to tote a laptop and have internet access.
Now, WebEOC in Indiana is going truly mobile.
The launch of WebEOC Version 8 saw the release of a WebEOC mobile app, allowing users to open the same boards on their desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Although this was a step forward, the existing IDHS boards have required extensive modifications to ensure that they would display usefully and effectively on both computers and mobile devices with smaller screen sizes. These boards are now ready for action.
“The mobile app and tools that IDHS uses to create boards have been constantly updated and improved. We’ve made significant progress in updating the most commonly used boards,” said IDHS Senior Business Systems Consultant Graham Jessiman. “While we still have some of the ‘older’ boards to update, we want to assure you that we're working through them diligently.”
IDHS has released guides to walk users through installing and using the WebEOC app. Visit the IDHS Emergency Management webpage to download them. They are in the Emergency Manager Resources section under Guides. They also can be requested by emailing [email protected].
