Join DNR staff and members of the Jay and Adams Habitat Restoration (JAHR) Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) group for a weed wrangle volunteer event on Sat., May 9 from 9 - 11 a.m. ET at Limberlost Swamp Nature Preserve. This is a great opportunity to visit a local nature preserve, enhance habitat for the site's wildlife and native plant community, and learn skills for improving habitat on your own property.

Staff will greet volunteers at the Jay County parking lot of the Limberlost Swamp Nature Preserve (40.5660, -84.9920). No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome with adult supervision. After a brief introduction, including invasive plant ID and management basics, the group will work on removing invasive garlic mustard from a section of the property containing mature forest. Volunteers should wear pants, a light-weight long sleeve shirt, and close-toed shoes for this outdoor event. Volunteers should also bring sunscreen, bug spray, gloves, and water.

Please register to volunteer for this event at https://cerv.is/0064x3424

DNR values access for all participants and will provide reasonable accommodation for this event. Please contact Ryan Smith at [email protected] or 260-368-7594 to request an accommodation or discuss any questions and concerns. Requests must be submitted at least one week before the event.
