If you love seeing wildlife, or just enjoy exploring, kayaking is for you! This two-part workshop is specifically designed for beginners with zero (or very little) paddling experience.
During Part 1, we’ll cover boating safety, discuss the types of kayaks and their pros/cons, and teach basic kayaking and paddling skills. This session will conclude with supervised paddling time in a quiet water area to practice. During Part 2, we’ll enjoy a relaxing paddle together into a backwater area to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature!
When you register, you are signing up for BOTH parts. Please note that attendance and full participation in Part 1 is required to attend Part 2.
BACKUP DATES are August 28 and 30. Please hold these dates in your calendar as well, in case one or both parts of the workshop must be rescheduled due to weather or instructor illness.
This is an official WINGS event! The goal of Women in Nature Gaining Skills (WINGS) is to encourage and empower women with the skills and confidence they need to partake in outdoor recreation activities in the south-central Indiana area. Each WINGS event features women-led hands-on training, with the goal of building a community of women interested in outdoor recreation. WINGS events are open to women ages 16 and up.
