About this Event
13540 West 400 South, Linton, IN 47441
https://on.in.gov/goosepondfwaThe American Woodcock is known by many names -- Timberdoodle, Labrador Twister, Bogsucker, Trainanator, Mudsnipe, Hokumpoke, Fiddle-squeak, Swamp Bat, Timber Rocket, or Dood for short.
Join us at Goose Pond FWA for an evening excursion to watch the American Woodcock performing its mating ritual, the sky dance (and to see how this weird little bird got so many nicknames). Learn about the American Woodcock’s migration, habitat needs, and how the DNR and our partners are working to conserve these birds. The walk will start at 7:30 PM ET in the Visitors Center. The walk will likely involve some light walking into the grasslands. Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared for muddy conditions.
Please register to attend this free event.
DNR values inclusion and access for all participants and will provide reasonable accommodations for this event. Please contact Ethan Plumier at 812-512-9159 or [email protected] to make an accommodation request. Requests must be submitted by April 4.
